Budget Analysis and Planning

Budget Analysis and Planning is a strategic and analytical unit responsible for advising and supporting the Chancellor, Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, and the campus in the areas of academic and institutional resources, financial and budgetary policy and planning, fiscal administration, and information services. In this capacity, it develops and maintains relevant databases, provides analyses of policies and programs, assists campus decision-makers as they determine campus priorities, and helps develop strategies designed to achieve these priorities.

Physical Planning, Development, and Operations

Physical Planning, Development & Operations (PPDO) supports the UC Santa Cruz academic vision by managing and overseeing all physical planning, design, and construction. The office ensures that projects contribute to and support campus life by creating visually pleasing, functional, and sustainable facilities that are sensitive and responsive to the surrounding natural landscape.

Police Department

The UC Santa Cruz Police Department is committed to cultivating a transparent, accountable, and collaborative environment embracing the broad diversity of our stakeholders to protect the life and property of our community.

The department develops and maintains a well-trained and properly equipped police agency that is innovative and dedicated to fostering an environment that encourages dialogue, compassion, commitment, service and integrity.

Risk and Safety Services

Risk and Safety Services provides leadership and coordinates multidisciplinary services to sustain a safe and healthy campus by managing risk, preventing injury and loss, and coordinating access, emergency response, and recovery.

The office is composed of five departments: Environmental Health and Safety, Risk Services, Transportation and Parking Services, and the Office of Emergency Management. Each of these units is dedicated to maintaining and promoting some aspect of the health and safety of all members of the campus community.

Sustainability Office

The Sustainability Office strives to foster a culture of diverse, equitable, and inclusive sustainability at UC Santa Cruz. The office actively engages students, staff, faculty, and community members through education, leadership development, institutional change, and behavioral transformation. The office builds partnerships with students and community members to improve UCSC’s environmental performance, seeking to model the way for how large institutions can work collaboratively to solve some of the world’s biggest environmental and social justice challenges.

UCSC Arboretum and Botanic Garden

The UC Santa Cruz Arboretum & Botanic Garden’s rich and diverse collection contains representatives of more than 300 plant families of Mediterranean climates. With a 135 acre living museum full of rare and unique plant species, dedicated staff, committed volunteers, and a voluminous history of contributing to conservation research, the Arboretum inspires botanical stewardship in students, the community, and the world at large.
